Pineapple bun 菠蘿包, bor or bao (in cantonse) is a very popular Hong Kong pastry. It can be eaten as a dim sum snack, breakfast bun or dessert pastry. It can be found Chinese bakeries all around the world.
It is kind of a sweet bun with its signature golden, crumbly crust. Under that crunchy and sweet crust is a soft bun.
Despite the name of pineapple bun, it does not contain any pineapple at all. The name comes from the look of the topping.
